    Default Need advice please!!

    Hi ladies,

My friend needs some advice! She just gave birth to her baby boy 4 days ago and apparently had to have about 20 stitches (not sure if she tore or if she had an episiotomy). She said the pain is absolutely unbearable and wanted to know if I had any advice on easing the pain. Well, I'm thankful that I didn't have to go through that, but I wondered if anyone here has had to deal with that and how did you cope with the pain an relieve yourself from the hurting of it?

Thanks for any info you have!

If I were her I would definately call the doc to prescribe some STRONG pain medication. All tell her to try and take baths with a little lavendar oil in it, or get a spray bottle with water and lavendar oil and everytime she pees she just has to spray it down there. It'll sting a little, but the lavender is antiseptic, so it really does help. Ouch tho... poor girl!

I got a bad third degree tear with Tom, sooo many stitches and it's not nice! My midwife told me to get in a warm salt water bath. Just pour some salt under the running water. I never actually did it, as I didn't get the time, but it's supposed to be really good to help with healing, is antiseptic and after it stings initially, is really soothing. If she can't bring herself to do that, a bath with TCP or Savlon soloution. I don't know if you get that, but it's just antiseptic soloution used to clean up cuts etc. That's really good for that. Also, pain meds; Definitely. Also, when she pees, tell her to dab with a baby wipe rather than toilet tissue as it's much softer and kinder to the delicate bits! Hope she feels better soon.

I had it bad with Lily also, many stiches outside, inside, muscle and deep muscle tissue and it IS murder!

I bought a ton of cheap Walmart washcloths, I rinsed them in water, half squeezed them out and stuck them in baggies in the fridge. Every time I went to pee I held and lightly squeezed one on my cooch, omg it was just lovely!!!!!! I also kept them in the baggy and put them in my pants

BAAAAH HAHAHAHHAH!! Oh Sammy, I just feel so bad for you! that must have been so painful! Sorry you had to go through that, but I'm glad you invented a cure! Even if you were the only women in town walking around with a frozen washcloth in a baggie in your pants.....

I remember my mother telling me something about a special bath called a sitz bath (i think) I never had to do that as I only had one interior stitch with Keira and the other I had nothing...
