    Default Bassinet........

I really envy all of you ladies,I really do.Here in South Africa it's is surely the most difficult thing to find, and if you do find out,you pay an arm an a leg for it!
I would love to have a Bassinet in our room, and the cot in the babies room, but can't seem to find one,so I thought I would complain a little and maybe feel a bit better. So there you have it!We don't have a place called walmart here.Reggies and ToysRus are about it when it comes to that, and they can be so darn expensive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahhhhhhhhh, anyone want to send a million bucks my way.I promise to spend it all!!!!!

We had the same problem here in Korea and we ended up putting the cot (we call it a crib where I'm from) in our bedroom instead and it worked out just fine. If you have room, you could try that!

I can do that, yes, but you know, they are just so cute and small, that I would think that are quite comfy in the beginning you know?I will maybe have a shop around for a second hand one.I definitly want something in our room,as I don't think it will quite work out with baby in our bed.

I felt that way too, and we ended up buying a Korean bassinet but it just wasn't safe enough so we sent it back. I felt good about putting her in the crib though -- it seemed too big in a way at first, but she really didn't mind and it is an extremely safe choice.

I was worried about that.If it is safe to have baby sleep in the crib in the beginning. But I guess if the crib is in your room, you can always keep an eye over baby right?Maybe we should just go with that option, coz I see it a waste to spend too much on the bassinet and use it only a little while. But then what did you put in the crib bedding wise?

I didn't use any bedding except a fitted sheet and she was tightly swaddled. It really is safe to go without, especially for the first 6 months.

The thing is that most places on line that sell bassinet are overseas, and it would be way to expensive to buy from overseas and pay the shipping costs. And i even checked on ebay. Most of them don't ship to south africa.

why would a crib not be safe in the early days? As long as the sheet is fitted and they are swaddled? The baby should not be moving around unless you have a very advance child so it should be fine. If you can get the baby movement monitor that will set your fears at ease. I know babies r us has it and it is worth every penny. If the baby stops breathing it sounds a loud alarm. It is very sensitive and works really well.
