Thread: too early for urine test?

NO way! My best friend tested 2 days before AF was due and got a neg and when AF didn't show up she tested again and it was a deffinant BFP!!! So, there is a chance you could be pregnant. When if AF due? I would test either on the day she is due or a few day after she hasn't shown. GOOD LUCK!!

Yeah, there is no way they are THAT predictable that early, even though they say they can give you a positive as early as 5 days before AF, they say in small print that it is best to test a week after AF is due, but who of us can wait that long??? Anyway, definately give it a couple more days and if you still get a BFN then I would go get a blood test to be sure. Good Luck and I hope you get a BFP really soon!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Early Detection tests state in the packaging that the accuracy rate is far less before your expected AF. Something like 65% accuracy 4 days before, 70% 3 days before and such. A lot of people never test positive until way after AF is expected. HCG levels vary from person to person so you could still be PG but your levels just aren't detectable yet. I'd wait another day or two and try again. Remember even a faint line is a line, so look hard

No. That is definately not proof that you are not pregnant. It's always best to wait until you are late anyways. So just test again when you are ready. Good luck.

Sometimes it can take up to 2 weeks late in some women to get a BFP on a HPT. If you want to know sooner the most accurate way is to go to your doctor and ask for a blood test. This will pick up minimal levels of HCG in your blood.

The earliest time a blood HCG test will detect a pregnancy is about 8 days after conception (or about 1 week before the next period is due). However, this is only possible for about 5% of women. Most women will show a positive blood HCG level by about 11 to 12 days after conception (or a couple of days before the next period would have been due).

The HCG hormone starts to be released into the woman's blood stream soon after the baby implants into the lining of her uterus (about 8 to 12 days after conception). The HCG blood level will initially start off very low (at least 5 IU/L), but then rapidly increase (doubling every 2 to 3 days), so that within a few days to a week or so, the HCG level becomes high enough to be detected in the woman's urine (at least 50 to 80 IU/L). Once this level is achieved, a urine pregnancy test will show as being 'positive'.
