    Default First month of IUI

So this is our first month of IUI. I am really excited and I have to say that I am enjoying the fact that I don't have to do math or plan BD. It is done for us. Now the BD is for fun, haha!

So I have been to the fertility clinic twice now this cycle. Let me explain what has happened so far. I started to spot late on the Monday, spotted all day Tuesday and then spotted and then started AF on the Wednesday. If I was counting the days for myself, I would have counted Wednesday as day 1 of my cycle but seeing as I didn't want to miss anything with the IUI, Tuesday was considered day 1 (spoke to the nurse). So, I went to the clinic on day 3 of my cycle for bloodwork and 2 ultra sounds (internal and external). I then had another appointment yesterday (day 9) for blood work and ultrasound. I will be going tomorrow for blood work and ultra sound and then again each day till the IUI. The nurse said i will have the IUI the two days after I start to ovulate. So, if I start to ovulate Monday, we will go in Tuesday for IUI and then again Wednesday for another IUI.

I expect everything to happen early next week. Apparently when I book for IUI I will also book an appointment for my pregnancy test. Oh I love saying that. I don't want to get my hopes up but I can't help it!

We are trying this cycle without meds. Usually you take a med to help grow the follicles (I don't really need this, seem to be doing it on my own) and then there is another med that makes sure you release the mature egg. Again, I seem to be doing this so DH and I decided that I wouldn't take this one either. He didn't want to use meds because it can sometimes cause multiples. As I mentioned in another post, we aren't against multiples but if we can avoid them, I think we will, at least for the first pregnancy. But, as I said in the other post, I would rather have more than one then none so if we dont get preggo this cycle, we will take all the meds that are suggested. The good thing about this med though is that the doc can time the ovulation/IUI within 24-36 hours. Without the med, it's more of a guessing game. There is one med that I will be taking, prometrium, to help with the proper thickening of the uterus lining.

Sorry this is so long. Things are going to be busy for us in the next week or so...wish us luck ladies!!
    Carolyn

Yeah!! Sounds like you are in good hands! Prometrium is a great move. I swear that is half the reason I have this baby!

Oh this is so exciting Carolyn!!!! Sounds like a good plan. That's awesome that they do if twice. My clinic would only do it once and tell you to go home and BD.

    That's great.
The first med could cause multiples (depending on which med and how much) but the second med (the trigger shot) only tells your body to release the mature follicle (egg). So the second med can't cause multiples and yes, you are right, it is easier to time IUI with the second med.
Sounds like you and your clinic have it all figured out...you are on your way to a bfp!
    Good Luck!

YAY!!!!!!!! You must be so happy this is finally here!! I am so excited for you!! Will you be taking the Prometrium vaginally? That is what I am doing after ovulation every month...100mg 3x day! It makes me a little crazy but hey, if it works, who cares....and honestly, I'm a little wacko anyway....

I wish you the very, very best of luck. Keep me/us posted and I will be saying a little prayer for you on that day!!!
