    Default Thinking about it...

I have been apart of btz for a little while now. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for almost 4 years now. I was on Depo for about 3 years. They didn't tell me a side affect is that I could have a hard time getting pregnant. My husband had his sperm tests done and everything was perfect with him. So I started to go to the infertility doctor and they put me on clomid. I was on that for about 4 months and nothing. So I got off cause all it was doing was costing money. Now my husband and I are thinking about doing IV.
I was wanting to know how much it cost some of you to have this done. Another I was wanting to know how many were successful and how many weren't.
I am just so tired off my heart hurting every time I get my period each month, and then I have to crush my husbands hear and tell him that we didn't make it this month either. I really want to give him the family that he wants.
Anything will help. Thank you guys.

I love my hubby very much!!!!
Just want him to have the family that he deserves!

Welcome!!!!! I'm sorry your journey TTC is so long! But I know that IUI and IVF have been successful for many!

A cousin of mine had a child awhile ago by IVF after a few failed IUI's. I believe they said it cost around $15K initially, but since she has frozen embryos, she can conceive again for much cheaper. I'm not 100% sure on the cost and stuff though. I do know IUI is quite a bit less expensive and invasive since they do not harvest eggs. Might be worth a shot to see if that will work for you. Do you have any insurance? Will it cover any fertility treatment?

What is the difference between IUI and IVF? I do have insurance and they are supposed to cover infertility and stuff and then through all of my doctor visits when I was on clomid, I had to fight with them, and then they still didn't cover it. And now they almost doubled my monthly bill so i don't know what we are going to do. I was just getting ideas cause the doctor's have offered the in vitro before but said it would only help a little more and it may or may not work. They said it was around that price and I din't want to pay that much for something that if it idn't work, would only crush us harder!

Wow, that makes me worry bout it then. I don't know what to do. People tell me to stop wanting one and then it will happen. Well I have done that and still nothing. I want to give my husband the family he deserves, but don't want to pay 10-15k for it not to happen!!!

I have been off of it for about 4 years now. My periods were fine, they lasted a week. After I got off the depo, my periods have only been like 2 or 3 days, but I was told that they are normal, so I don't worry about that. My hubby has been checked and they said that everything was fine with him. I was told that I have a tipped uterus and that may be a cause of me not being able to get pregnant, but then I was told that was not true. I had the test done to see if my tubes were open and they said they were.

I was on depo for a while and had trouble conceiving both my boys.
It took me over a year naturally to have my older son (I was 30 at the time)
It took me just under a year, using fertilty meds to have my second son (36 years old).
I was not ovulating...could have been side effects from depo shot too.
I was on Clomid for 3 months and it didnt' work for me, my doctor prescribed Femara after that, and I got pregnant on the first round with that drug.
I wish I would have thought more or been more informed about the consequences of the depo shot, I don't think most women are aware of the side effects for conceiving down the road.

So tell me a little more about this Femara stuff. Yea, I wasn't aware of the side affects of depo either. Alot of women aren't. I was 15 when I started depo and the only reason why I got on it was because I didn't want to have my period. And the only side affects they told me about it was, I wouldn't have my period, I could gain weight ( Which I didn't until I got off), and I could become depressed, (Which I never did). I hate depo and if I would have known about the side affects I would have never done it!
