    Default Step Aerobics?

My dr told me at my last visit that I needed to incorporate more exercise now that I'm in my 2nd trimester and feeling more energetic and no longer sick. I got on the treadmill a couple times last week and that was great, but I get so bored!! This morning I went to the YMCA and did an intermediate step class....but I lowered it to the step only on the floor (no risers), and I actually did a lot of the routine just on the floor because I would get a little winded and need a break. I kept it very low-impact though.....I just needed something that was a little more involved than just walking on a treadmill....hehe. Does it sound like I handled it ok and it's something that acceptable for me to continue as part of my exercise routine? Just wanting some opinions.....

Sounds good to me. One thing you can do is get one of those watches that let's you take your heart rate so you can keep track while you are taking the class. I heard you don't want your heart rate to get above the 140's. Also make sure you stay hydrated.

I go to the gym 4 times a week. Since becoming pregnant I now wear a heartrate monitor and do not let my heart rate go above 140. Also the big thing is not to over heat and to stay hydrated. I do a body step class once a week, fit boxercise once a week and have been managing fine. However, they did say it was ok because I was doing it before I was pregnant. You do have to be more careful if you are just trying to start this type of exercise up now. Wishing you a happy, healthy pregnancy.

Mr dr said one of the best things for exercize is just plain walking. Theres a park a couple blocks from where i live so i walk down there then walk in the park and walk back. I think its about a mile depending on how much walking i do in the park. Only thing is its downhill walking to the park but its uphill and really steep walking back, and with all the extra weight now i'm totally out of breath when i get back and my feet swell up and feel like theyre going to pop my shoes, so i don't know how much longer i'll be doing that. Plus its usually super hot and humid here this time of year, and even tho its been really nice lately thats going to change too, so....

But i still like walking to the park since theres usually a few moms there with babies in strollers and i like seeing them and talking to them.
