Yeah i'll be posting a lot on this board can you tell?so anyways I was reading a pregnancy book and came across a birth plan sounded like many women had them, and I never heard of one so I read it and was really interested in doing one because its your wishes of "what you'd like" such as holding the baby right after giving birth...etc etc, so i came to my doctor a month ago and asked him when should I give him my birth plan? he looked at me and said I don't believe in them and don't do them because of lawsuit reasons...I looked at him hurt and angry because I want very LITTLE intervention as possible unless Medically nessecary Obviously i wouldnt plan to endanger my baby but i know doctors now a days like to Hurry up on it and thats probably why more people have C sections and complications now adays. So i was curious if anyone had made a birth plan or had problems with their doctors refusing to listen to what they wanted done during the birth? For me it was little to no intervention...holding the baby right after which i was told would cause the baby hypothermia and baby would get sick and die. I feel that Ill be looking for a new doctor before I get pregnant again, I would love to have one that would at least Listen to my wishes before ruling them out and take a more natural approach then throw me in a pool of medication and be hooked up to monitors.

I made a birth plan because there were things that I really did and didnt want. I wanted to deliver the placenta naturally, I wanted DP to cut the cord, I wanted a natural as possible birth.
It is good to write a birth plan as it gives you something to aim for during the labour and also your midwife/doctor will have an idea of what you want. However you have to remember that things cant always go to plan.
I plan on writing a birth plan. I think, especially if you have certain things you very definitely do or don't want, they are a great idea. BUT.... you should be prepared for things to take a different turn during the birth, and also make sure you discuss your wants with the midwife/doctor well bforehand so they are aware of what you want
i was told i could write one but seriously things in labour can CHANGE at a drop of the hat i trust my docs to do what is best for me. they know i want meds and i know they will let me have my baby when the time is right, after all that is why they are the docs
