We just rented the rug doctor from the grocery and did it ourselves. It looked like we washing out carpet and laid it back down it was great.
Now that Ty is all over the floor, we are thinking of having our carpets professionally cleaned. Has anyone ever done this? Were you happy with the results? Also, there are two different methods that I have found; steam cleaning from a place like Stanley Steamer, and Chem-Dry. Just wondering if anyone has ever used either of these methods and can recommend one or the other. There are some stains on the carpet, but it's only 7 years old and we just can't afford to replace it at the moment. Thanks for any comments!

We have the company Stanley Steamer around here. It usually runs around $200.00 to have our first and second floor done. I haven't had a quote in awhile though. We usually do this once a year. I do have a hoover steam vac too that I use quarterly. I'll be getting this professionally done before Delsin gets here in Nov.
Stanley steamer is good.
For tough stains I use spray and wash with oxy.Its in the laundry section of market. Its a squeeze bottle.I mix it with a little water,or put it direct on and pat with cold rag. This has taken every stain out of my carpet and clothes.Blue juice, grease, chocolate, etc.
I'm thinking Stanley Steamer sounds good, I'll probably have them come out and give us a quote. We have a roth carpet cleaning out here too that is advertising $99.90-$164.90 for whole house cleaning (the difference in price is 2-step process and 3-step, although I don't know what the steps are...). That price sounds pretty good too. I also read to use water and vinegar in the hoover steam vac instead of shampoo....might try that one also.
