oh my poor guy!! i hope the antibiotics solve the problem, and that the pain goes away give him a big hug from Serenity!
So...I am supposed to be at work right now but instead I am sitting on my arse on the couch. Here is why (long story):
Earlier this week, Nicholas had a small pimple-like bump on his lower abdomen where his diaper covers, just under his belly button. I didnt think much of it because he sometimes gets them from moisture/teething - it looks like a diaper rash pimple.
At his 15 month check up on Wed. the doctor noticed it and said to keep an eye on it, keep him as dry as possible, etc.
Well - this afternoon as I am getting ready for work, I changed Nicholas and noticed he had a reddened area the size of a silver dollar around the pimple and when I touched it, he literally screamed his head off. It was hard as a rock and very red. I knew something was definitely wrong. It felt like the whole area was loaded with infection/pus. So I applied a little pressure and he cried so hard, I started to cry. It felt like it popped but nothing came out - it was like under his skin, like an abscess.
SO I immediately called his doc and they said to bring him in at 330. I called work and then headed in to the doc.
The doc said it is either one of two things - an abscess or a staph infection
He started him on antibiotics for 10 days - if it isnt better by Monday, I have to call and go back in either to have it drained or cultured. WTF?????????????
How on earth he got this I have no idea....if it was just an opening/diaper rash that started it or my worst fear, that he has MRSA???
My poor lil guy...I was holding him and he wouldnt even let his belly rub up against me because it hurt him so much after I touched it at home.
I had to restrain him so the doc could see it he was crying so hard. It literally happened overnight - he had a bath last night and it wasnt like that. I know because I examine him for pete's sake !!!!!!!!!!!!!
So thats my story...very weird, hoping it clears up with the antibiotic!
The doctor said to give him warm baths twice a day, too, to see if it would come out/come to a head on its own so I gave him a bath and just put him to bed,
Thanks for reading if you got this far![]()
Aw poor little guy!!
Hope it clears up soon!
OH wow!! I hope it heals quickly!! poor little guy!! I really hope its not MRSA!! Thats my biggest fear of bring it home to my family!!!
Poor wee guy, hope he is feeling better soon.
