Thread: Follow up to my last post...

Well I had a doctor's appointment yesterday, not about being pregnant or anything like that but something completely different. She asked me if there was any chance I could be pregnant and I told her yes. She did a pregnancy test there and I had to wait about twenty minutes but the results came back positive. I don't want to get my hopes up, though. I know it said positive, but my period still isn't due for another two weeks. Is it possible that it's a false positive?

It is far more common to get a false negative than false positive.

I understand that for you, though, not getting your period will be a sort of confirmation.

Try to keep busy and rid yourself of too many expectations until then, but in my opinion, it's a really good sign , and I hope you are!

A pregnancy test checks for hCG hormones in your body. It is possible for a false positive to occur if you had hCG injected as part of a fertility treatment. It is also possible that there was a defect in the test. You may want to try a different brand of test to confirm. It is possible you got pregnant on your last cycle and still had your period, as that does happen.
