    Question hello. got a question?

hi, i'm really new here. and had a problem for years. i've tried to have children for almsot 10 yrs of my life now.(didn't care if i was a single mother or not) and now that i'm really happy with someone i'm woth now. want to have a baby. it's not a fad thing or anything and never really understood the meaning of "yuour clock is ticking until this year. I'm 29 yrs old. and no matter what i try i can't seem to be able to conceive. i will try that ovulation kit though as i seen on this site reading (thank you). but can it be anything else that maybe a factor here? i don't drink much and don't do drugs. i eat alot. and was on the pill for 13 years, but got off it a month ago. i recently just missed my period. and am worried to get a preg test, and be dissappointed when seeing it as a negative. is there any type of advice that you can give me to help either to calm the dissapointment or help in the procedure. it's getting to feel like i'm broken or something. please let me know.
    thanks :)

Thank you for sharing with us.

Several things can play a role in your situation.

First off, you coming off the pill is still fairly recent, and because of this and the length of time you were on it, it might be wise to prepare yourself for the possibility that it may take a while before being able to conceive. But remember that it is relevant to each case and that for some, it can happen more quickly. Secondly, the pressure of wanting and waiting for it to happen can take its toll as well.

I would suggest that you stop drinking, just in case, and as Elleth often suggests, take care of yourself as though you were in the meantime.

I know it is difficult to take the test and risk disappointment. I would do so without expectations, in the case that it is negative. If this is what happens, try not to worry. Try to be patient, and enjoy the intimacy, and when the time is right, I believe it will happen for you both.

You may be surprised if it is indeed positive, and if that is the case, we will be here to celebrate the good news with you.

No problem nachos ( lol) - anytime.

I'm sorry you got your period, but I congratulate you nonetheless for remaining positive.
You really are not alone, and I know it will happen for you when the time is right.

    Keep in touch.

Hi, nachos. to Baby Talk Zone!

babyonmymind gave you some great advice. I want to add that just coming off the pill, it usually takes about three months for your cycle to come back to normal and for you to ovulate. You'll know more when you use the ovulation prediction kit.

Also, if you haven't already, start taking prenatal vitamins. These are very important to help prevent birth defects and to help you grow a strong placenta that will last throughout your pregnancy. Ideally, you take them for two months before getting pregnant to build up your folic acid stores.

Did you have ten years that you were not using birth control and did not get pregnant? If so, then I suggest you see a doctor right away for fertility treatments. You could be up against things that will take some time to work through.

    Sending tons of your way!

no, i was using birth control for over 10 years. but i thought that since my mom had me with birth control that everyone can. my mom was super fertile, she had me using the pill, my second sis was planned then my third sister on a IUD. crazy eh? my boyfriend says that i only seem to really want kids when it's close to that time of the month. is it my hormones or something. he said he really wants kids but now isn't the best of time financailly. so should i continue to take the prenatal pills( which i have already been taking with my pills or not with my pills.) i jsut don't wanna be really old and find out that i can never have kids. or am i just being paranoid.thanks

    Hi, Amber.

It is possible for anyone to get pregnant while on BCPs, but not likely. The odds are 3 in 1,000 women each year get pregnant while on the pill. Are you off of all birth control right now?

It is possible that your hormones can intensify your emotions, but that doesn't mean you only want kids part of the time. If you are off all birth control, then definately continue taking prenatal vitamins. I recommend you take them for two months before trying to conceive if at all possible. As an alternative, you could take folic acid supplements, along with vitamin C supplements. That gets the most important vitamins, but the prenatals are better.

The best time financially is always a tough decision. Sometimes there is never a perfect time and you just need to go for it. That is something that you and your partner need to decide together. It can be frustrating when both of you two do not share the same view.

    Sending tons of your way!

My question is, since that, and having sexs day 14-16 every 2 days, I have began to experience a few things diff in my body. I ham constanlty hot. I have experienced a period like pain, but no period.. This morning my lower abdomen was feelign funny(can't describe the feeling). I have done 2 pregnancy test and they both came back negative. My period is not due until the 5th of July. Im just really confused as to if im pregnant or not. Anyone can offer any advice, oh im going to my docs tomorrow to get the results from a progestrone blood test. I just don't want to get my hopes up to high and then im mot pregnant.
