Thread: How long to test??

OK...I've in and out of the boards here and I know it's been brought up somewhere, but I'm just not sure where!

I'm on my first month off the Patch. Had I been on the patch I would have started AF sometime between M & W of this week. It's Friday and I am having no real PMS symptoms. Only slight breast ache and kinda tired. Nothing too out of the ordinary except for missing AF. Previous to BCP, I was on a 29 - 31 day cycle, but am not sure if it will come back to that. It's so hard to tell sometimes and of course when you want it so bad........we all know how hard it is to keep patience. Of course I don't want to test this weekend and see only one line and then wonder if I tested too early and start waiting all over again!!

I thought I had an idea of when I was ovulating. I didn't chart (was already too close to OV to start when I thought of it), but thought based on CM that I was ovulating and we were baby dancing every other day around that time. Of course if I was wrong and my timing way off, I could have ovulated anytime between now and then. Had some cramps last week but no discharge at all.

I know I'm probably singing the same song.....just wondering when I should test and be the most certain to trust it!

Unfortunately there's no way to know for sure when to test, especially coming off the patch as your hormones can be all over the place. I recommend you wait until 4 days after your best guess at the first day of your missed period before testing. If that is negative, test again one week later.

Hi Kari I know what you are going through because I am in the same boat. If I go on a 30day cycle which was the same as the last one I am now one day late for AF, if is 40 days like my second last cycle it is too early to test, and if it is 46 days like my third last cycle it is way too early to speculate!!! I too think we baby danced at the right time but then again I could be wrong with the timing of my cycle days. I am eager to test but do not want to see that single line either. My dh says to wait another week, easy for him to say. The waiting is killing me!!! I hope we both have good news soon, I will try to wait to the 15th, but I don't know if I'll make it. Thanks Sam33 & Elleth. I know, it's kind of a point we could easily beat to death because we are just wondering and WAITING! This is my first month off the patch, but a good friend of mine got pregnant her first month off so it gives me hope. My AF should have been here on Tues, which would be normal for being on the patch. When I wasn't on the patch, my cycle was between 29-30 days which would make AF around Wed. or Thurs. GRRRR. Wish I just knew one way or another. Sounds like you've been a few months off now and your cycle is a little wacky. I suppose I should more likely expect that to be the case with me instead of expecting to get pregos right away.

The two week wait is tougher when the dates are unsure. Try not to stress too much and enjoy your time while waiting. Here's to hoping for a soon for both of you!

Thanks again Elleth. I will probaby wait a few more days to test. My breasts have become quite sore today, so I will wait and see if AF shows up. That is usually a sign for me. And because I'm not on BCP anymore, I expect it to be more intense as it was for me prior to BCP.


Sam33....sounds like your cycle is getting shorter as the months go. This could be a good sign Let me know if you get any pms/prego symptoms. What were your symptoms like for AF on your first month off?? Just curious since you said AF took 46 days the first month off. Like I said, so far my only symptom has been very sore breasts just starting today. Had some cramping last week, but nothing started.

I suppose at this point I could speculate on any symptom. EVen a darn stuff nose!! Allergies! That's what I get for living in the Oregon desert!

I do get sore breasts just before AF, but nothing like how sore they got when I was pregnant. Hopefully all these signs you are getting will add up to being pregnant.
