Default I am seriously giveing it a go

    this sleep training thingy

he went to bed at five to 7 and he hasn't cried just yelled on me and I have only been in 3 times so far, make that 4 times!

he is just chatting and singing so f=so far so good as that is what he done at nap time, but he seems to be able to self sooth better at nap time than at bedtime even though we kinda keep the same routine for both, don't know why that is!

the only thing making this stressful and difficult is my upstairs neighbor who I have mentioned about their noise before - well he is having a serious brawl with his kids who are only toddlers and screaming and swearing at the poor things which you can hear all over my house so trying to ignore it, and I guess that is why Zak isn't sleeping yet as at lunch time for his nap the house was quite apart from us and the neighbours were not in so there lies my problem Zak can go to sleep in his own bed by himself no prob at all, my neighbors are not allowing it, and I am so damn frustrated with my child having such a stressful bedtime - so close to calling the police again for them tonight and getting the guy charged with breach of peace!
I want Zak to go to sleep rested with nice happy thought of his fun day in his head not the sound of the guy upstairs screaming and his weans crying!!!!!

Had the council involved and they have been out to check sound insulation as they are council tenants unfortunately they don't have an answer to that yet - not that I can be convinced that it is going to make much difference if it is a sound insulation problem as they are just scum!

Thats great that he finally settled and went to sleep!

You should try a fan in his room!

We live in an apartment and on the weekend the noise level is a little higher then normal but with her fan going she cant hear a thing!

So how much crying did he actually have to do? Did you used to nurse him to sleep (he's weaned now, right?)?

Although I'm against serious cry-it-out, when Anna gets to be a bit bigger, it's going to take a few rough nights to ever get her to fall asleep by herself, never mind without nursing, so I'm very curious how others manage -- especially those who nursed for a long time like you have!

Thanks in advance for any advice you can share!

*hey and look at you about to pop!!! didn't realize you were so far along!!!!*

Hey I know its flew by hardly had a mo to enjoy it much!!!

He didn't cry at all - not once, don't know why as many times before when we have tried it he has screamed - the only whimper we got was a yell of 'mummy' and as soon as he was doing that I went in said night night then walked out and he continued chatting and singing then finally it went quite and he was sleeping!

I nursed Zak until he was 15mo and then stopped cold turkey - it was fab he took to using a bottle great.

He always slept on my boob ut to be honest I think we got lucky with the transition from breast to bottle and I think cold turkey was the best option for both Zak and me.

I too am against cry it outs so I was reluctant to try this - but like what someone else posted the other day I stayed in his room at first until he was sleepy and really settled then left saying night night I left his room door open and sat in the living room and had dinner - it took all of 30 Min's and me going back in when he yelled on me 5 times.

I think it worked so well today as we did the same at lunch time nap I popped him in his cot and left saying nap time, and he settled straight away! also we stuck to routine and he had lost of fresh air today and plenty to eat so it seems to have just been the perfect day to start.

I really hope it carries on - providing my neighbours allow it!

I hope also it is as easy for you guys!

Its like what melfi said thought consistency is the key and hopefully if I repeat the process exactly tomorrow then it should go well.

Wow, that's lovely! I hope it continues like that.... would be lovely if he was falling asleep easily by himself before your next little cutie arrives!
