I heard counsil housing with two bedrooms don't get assigned to people until they already have a baby born and probably crawling around as the guy said.
I understand about the hormones, hang in there!!!
Why when your pregnant do you get upset at the most stupid things?!
I registered with the housing department so that I could have my name down on a waiting list to get a house for me and the little one. I registered at the end of December and have only just got a reply from them. It stated on the letter that I can apply for one bedroomed properties! Well that's no good because I'll need one for the baby.
When I phoned them the guy said that I have to go and see them in person because I need to prove that I am pregnant (it didn't say this on the application form!). So I said ok, what do you need. He said the MATB1 form. I told him that I don't get that for weeks yet and wanted to start applying for properties as soon as possible so that I could get somewhere before the baby was born.
He said that I might as well wait for the MATB1 form because I will most likely not be housed before the baby is born anyway because there are people who need them more than me! And the baby is likely to be crawling around before I get a two bedroom property.
Ok, for some this might not be a problem but I split up with the baby's dad and am living at my parents. It's only a two bedroomed house and I already have to share my room with my 28yr old sister. There is barely room to walk around, never mind get a cot in there.
So normally I would have got really angry at something like thisBut with all the pregnancy hormones I just started crying! I can't believe that I am still going to be sharing a bedroom when I have a baby. There really is no room and the cot would have to go in my parents room.
Thanks for listening everyone, I guess I just needed to vent.

Living in a one bedroom wont be too bad while the baby is young. But you dont want them in there forever then they wont want to go in there own room. We only have a one bedroom and put our table in the livingroom and made the dining room into a nursery. That way Nathan isnt in our room. We just kicked him out lol the other night, last night was his second night in his crib. He was on a futon in our room. Hes doing fine out there. Will you have a space like that in your housing once you get it?
One of my friends got a place really quickly when she was pregnant long before the baby was born. I think the council will count the unborn as actually being a child when you are 6 months pregnant (think I read that on the site of my council).
Can't you make them believe you are homeless somehow to get a place quicker? I mean you basically are since you split up with the dad.
Thanks for your support guys. If they offer me a one bedroomed place, then I will take it, but the guy said that I will be waiting ages for somewhere even a one bedroom.
My mum has said to tell them that she said there isn't room with her and I HAVE to move out before the baby comes. She said to tell them that we are arguing about it and it is causing me a lot of stress.
This isn't true, my mum is great about everything and said not to worry, we will sort something out if I have to stay there with the baby. But hopefully if they think I will be homeless once the baby comes they might give me a higher priority.
Fingers crossed everyone. I am seeing my midwife tomorrow so I will have to ask for some proff of pregnancy.

Hey Firecracker,
Just be careful if you plan to use the homeless card, as quite often they will put you in a hostel until they find a house for you! And you really don't want that honey!!!
I would go to the doctor and get them to write you a sick note for anxiety and depression, if you have a doctors line you automatically move up the list (well thats what happens with my council, I am not sure how diffrent they are across the uk)
good luck !!
Yep, you're so right Melfi, I will be careful with that.
Thanks for your advise.
