Default Using a doppler at home?

I believe it is possible to buy and use a doppler at home from weeks 8 onwards to hear babys heartbeat
Right now, I am VERY nervous with this pregnancy and anything which could put my mind at ease for the duration is greatly welcomed
However - there was a reason for why I avoided them with the last pregnancy and that was the fear of causing alarm if I was unable to hear anything
    So my questions are:

    1: Would you buy/rent one?
2: Are they easy to use?
3: Or best left to the professionals?

HAPPY NEW YEAR BY THE WAY XX

Funny you should start this thread as i have just been looking at them myself this evening...
I thought it'd be best to have one, put your mind at ease at any time, however, what if the baby is in a position where it isn't able to pick up the heartbeat, i know i would panic, i'm still undecided. xXx

I rented a hospital grade one with Millie off ebay actually, super easy to use from about 16wks.Sometimes earlier it is harder to pin point baby down being smaller. But I loved having it there,I borrowed one for Alex's pregnancy. It helped the kids bond too with their unborn sibling too

Vicky - you rented one off ebay? Can you rent from ebay? Thinking I may rent instead of buy...can you remember which one it was?

It can be harder to detect so early on so may end up giving you more reassurance than worry.A midwife won't use one in her expwrienced hands until around 15wks as baby is so tiny. I honestly can't remember just search doppler rental

LOVE my doppler and don't know what I would do without it! Mine was only $50 on Fetal Doppler, Fetal Dopplers, baby heart beat monitor, it's a sonoline B. I was able to pick up baby's hb around 10 weeks. Everyone is different, you just have to know that it may take a bit to get used to/finding baby's hb and all, I found mine right away thank God! My doppler has been a true godsend!!!

I have the same one as Cass. I loved it. It really kept me sane after a missed miscarriage last pregnancy. It was easy to use and heard babe everyday after nine weeks. It helped everytime I became worried
