I have no idea about these kind of things but I know it wasn't used at the hospital till after 16 weeks!
Well thats good I am hearing good things about them and 9 weeks is very early, aww thanks everyone..x
My midwife wouldn't even try to locate a heartbeat until I was at least 12 weeks, but you are so tiny, I am sure that you should be able to hear the babies heartbeat in a month or so x

Worry doesn't help tomorrow's troubles, but it does ruin today's happiness
I rented, then bought a hospital grade one. I loved it, then I let Amy use it through her pregnancy. NOW I am stuck with it LOL!
oh and I got it easy from 9 weeks. Saved my head going nutty many, many times!
I rented one with Brett, and bought one with Brooke and Brandon. As long as you know it can be hard to find early on, and are willing to try for 10 to 15 minutes to find it without panicking, I say go for it. It is very reassuring to be able to hear babies hb before you can feel movement. The ones I bought I got on ebay. I heard babies hb around 10 to 11 weeks. I sold the one I bought for Brooke for about 75% of what I bought it for. I plan to do the same for the one I bought for Brandon.
Think I will rent one until I start to feel movement then send it back....I should probably take things one day at a time and not get too carried away xx
