Default when did you first let baby go on a sleepover??

    Hi Ladies,

So my little boy was born last week thursday, (post birth story and pics in a few). DPs mom normally takes our daughter on the weekend that I work (which would have been this upcoming weekend) partially because DP needs a break after working all week and partially because she loves time w her. She called us today and asked if she could still have Bella this weekend, and then asked if she could also take the baby. I said NOOO WAY. Not because I dont trust her but because I think hes way, way too young to be separated from me, eventhough I pump exclusively and he could go w bottles of EBM, I just think its a bad idea. I have NO ISSUE with her taking Bella overnight here and there and I know shes taken care of but a one week old sholdnt be anywhere but with their moms (in my opinion). Long story short, DP is mad at me because he thinks im being over protective and dont trust his mom and his mom is acting like im a snooty brat. Would you guys do the same in my situation? When did you first start letting your kids go by grandparents for sleepovers?

I'd totally do the same. My kids were both 2+ before there were any nights away from me and even then it was for reasons where I had no choice (in the hospital ect) I'd never let Nolan stay overnight this young, not a chance. Congrats btw!

Yeah, there is no way in he!! I'd let my baby be away from me overnight (he's almost 4 months), probably not for a couple years at least.

i wouldn't either, gosh, its hard enough leaving my little one for a half hour with her own dad when i go shopping lol.

i don't think your being over protective, he's your precious little bundle, you've just carted him around for 9 months and given birth, it's your right to want him with you and there will be plenty of time for sleepovers when he is older - i cant believe anyone would even suggest taking a baby so young for an overnight except if it was neccessary.

i hope it settles down for you

I wouldn't even consider it. Nothing to do with MIL's capability as a carer, but he's a WEEK old for goodness sake~! MIL and DP need to pull their heads in!

No way at a week old, your not being unreasonable at all. Mine have had sleepovers with grandparents but not until much older. Just say thank you but baby at a week old shouldn't be away from Mummy

Congrats on baby, my son was born friday! If anyone even hinted at wanting to take him for even an hour I'd tell them to get stuffed...its just way too young!

My son is almost 2 and a half, he has never spent the 1st night away from me. Congrats on a new son. You are right though he is way too young to be spending the night away whether with family or not.

no way no how! i let B spend away from home once when he was 8 months old. only because DH and I were so sick with a stomach virus we couldn't function and i was terrified of giving it to B. Babies need their momma's!
