How scary. Poor little thing... guess she's just not used to the water coming into her mouth without having to suck
I have been pretty good at keeping small items out of Zuri's mouth. Last night, she wanted some of my water which was in a water bottle. I squirted one small amt in her mouth and she choked! At first I smacked her back, then her lips turned blue. She couldn't breathe! Her dad grabbed her started pumping her stomach from the back. (Ok, I just laughed because she is 8 months old and he was treating her like an adult by pumping her stomach from the back...wasn't funny then though)
Anyway, I grabbed her back from him and turned her flat and she was able to get air. She didn't even cry, she just got her color back and resumed a few fake coughs. Ironically, she started trying to grab the water bottle again! I don't think so little one. Just a warning, I never knew a baby could choke so badly on water alone. Make sure it's given via bottle only. I wasn't smart allowing her to drink from my water bottle. Though it was so little, I think I almost drowned her. Very Scary!

oh my im glad shes ok yea it can choke them but i have never seen it choke them that badto her and you from Kenna and me
same thing happened to e when i tried to give him gripe water through a syringe, so scary! they cant choke tho..i mean properly choke, it just goes down the wrong hole, it cant block their passage way, stil so scary!x
Thats so scary!!! im glad she is ok!!
And although a baby's airway cannot get blocked by water, they can aspirate the liquid and essentially choke, or more accuratley drown, from just a teeny bit of liquid. So always be cautious when that happens!! I actually researched this cause Jayson was choking all the time when I first introduced a sippy cup, but I thought "oh well it cant choke him..." and my sister made me go look it up!!
Oh bless!! I would have freaked out!
That is so scary!!! Glad to hear that she's okay!!
