Question Keep name or choose another?

Ok ladies here is my problem. I have had a girl name picked out since I was like 10 years old--Kiera. I actually got it off of The Dark Crystal. It was one of my favorite movies as a kid and I just love the name.

Anyway, I have a cousin who last year named her little girl Kiera. I haven't seen my cousin in probably 10 years and I am not sure when I will see her again. I really really don't want to pick a new name, but I also don't want people to think I copied her. I remember how upset I was when my SIL was pregnant and she annouced that she was thinking of the name Kiera (she ended up having a boy, phew) as well a few years ago so I can imagine people being upset at me for naming my daughter (if this one is a girl) Kiera.

What do you ladies think, should I think of another name or just stick with what I have planned on for more than half my life? Be honest please.

I would stay w/ the same name.

My hubby and i ended up not naming the baby the chosen name because one of our cousin used it. I still regret it. So you dont want to have that regret. I vote for using the same name. Kiera is a lovely name.

    THANK YOU GOD

Thanks ladies. I agree, I think I will regret not naming my daughter Kiera.

It is so funny, all throughout the years people have looked at me like I am nuts for this name. Now it seems to be popular, well at least with my family.

Do what you really want. If thats the name you have always wanted then do it. Did she hear it from you anyways? Plus if you hardly see her what will it matter?

It's totally up to you. Hopefully your sil will not be mad....did she know that if you had a girl, you would give your girl that name?
Either way, it doesn't matter...do what you want.
I have that movie at home.

KEEP IT!! I was in the same boat as you. I have a cousin who named her daughter Emma. I don't really talk to her, and haven't seen her in well over 10yrs. So I went ahead and still used the name...because I LOVE it, and she wasn't going to take that away from me. =)
