    Angry Ahh..stressed

Hi ladies. Hope everyone is doing well. Well, i'm not too happy. All I keep thinking about is having a large baby. I'm already scared about the labor b/c when I tell people i'm not getting an epidural, they freak out. And that scares me. I'm so frustrated with my midwives.

At 36 wks. my lil one was estimated at 6 lbs. 13 oz. already. At 36 wks. the baby is only suppose to weigh about 6 lbs. Lil Elijah was already almost 7. I'm sure he's over 7 now. And if I go all the way to June 18th, he's gonna be big. I have this weird feeling he's not gonna come on this own. I'm really aggravated b/c my midwives won't listen to me when I tell them I know i'm farther along. I don't know what else to do!

I only weighed 6 lbs. 10 oz. & Df weighed 7 lbs. 9 oz. So, neither one of us were abnormally large. Large babies don't run in either side of our families either. My midwife told me if I go to June 18th, we'll talk about inducing me. The baby will be 9-10 lbs. by then. I'm a fairly small person, so I really don't wanna give birth to a 9 lber. I don't know what in the heck to do! They are making me very angry!

Sorry ladies, just had to get that off my chest b/c it's stressing me out bigtime!!!

Have you thought to go to another doctor just to get a second opinion?

Well, I hope this some what makes you feel better...my 1st born was big but my other 2 babies were small...and to tell you the truth, my delivery with my first one was much easier. I don't know why but he seemed to come out alot easier even though he was much bigger than my other two.
My sister says the same thing...her first baby was almost 10 lbs and he was much easier to deliver than her second one which was only 6lbs.
Don't stress too much...trust me it will hurt but maybe not too much.
Oh in case your wondering my sister and I both only weighed a little over 100lbs when we both got pregnant. So we weren't big people either.

Aww honey I can understand this. Remember it is YOUR body and YOUR baby..if you are uncomfortable with what the doc says then talk to them again and honestly I do agree with LIsa w/ a second opinion. Usually when you get to the uncomfy zone and it is safe to deliver the doc will help you along not prolong it for you!! I hope things work out in your favor....giving birth is such a beautiful thing, we should not ever have to suffer even if it is "beforehand"!! Talk to your doc again and tell them how you REALLY FEEL dont let them boss you around its YOUR BODY-YOUR BABY as I said!

I felt like my son was going to be huge.. I measured over with him the entire pregnancy.. He was 8lbs 4 oz.. Which isnt fairly large.. But he was smaller than I was thinking..

Try not to worry hon.. Chances are if you are further along this one will come earlier than they think.. Anyway you can convince them to give you another scan? Dates are important.. As you dont want to have that lil one too early for fear lungs are not ready..

Have you asked them why they are not concerned with the baby being too big? I'd certainly talk to them again and again and if they do not listen or are not willing to give another scan i'd seek a 2nd opinion which may be a lil hard to come by this late in the game.. If they do not listen to you and the baby is too big you could end up with a c section when it could have been avoided had they listened..Could you go to the hospital for a scan?

We do know our bodies better than drs give us credit for.. With my youngest.. I told my dr on Sept 4 that I was going to have her any day now.. He checked me.. Said I was dilated I had nothing to worry about.. She wasnt due for 6 weeks.. I told him I was SURE she was coming.. I KNEW It.. Next day i went into labor with her and there was no stopping it.. Wish they had listened.. She was born early and her lungs were not ready.. Trust your instincts hun..

I wish you luck! June 18th isnt a bad day! Its my oldests bday..

Thanks everyone for the replies, they really helped calm me down! The doctor that read my last u/s said Elijah was right on target (with his weight) for my due date..which he was going by June 8th. I go to see my midwife this Thursday & i'm going to ask her about inducing me the week after (I'll be 38 wks. by them).

From my very 1st u/s the total number of days which they have moved my due date is 21. So, I know I had a period. The only reason i'm really stressing is b/c I have a feeling he's gonna be hard-headed! He's not gonna come out on his own. So, if I have to rely on my midwives...i'm in trouble! I think they know i'm farther along b/c my midwife told me when I hit 36 wks. they wouldn't stop my labor. But they just aren't doing anything about it.

I'll ask them if they'll give me another scan, but i'm not sure they will. At my last appointment my fundal height was 42 centi. which is kinda funny. They are concerned about a big baby, but I guess they are trying to let my go into labor on my own. Which I don't feel like I will. Well, I guess i'll just have a talk with them Thursday b/c like you said Michelle, it's my body & my baby. And 38 wks. is fine to have a lil one anyway...thank goodness!!!!!

    Thanks again so much ladies!

Hi Sheena, just wanted to wish you luck for your appointment. Unfortunately, guessing the weight of baby can sometimes be very tricky even though you feel huge.

I am a short person just over 5 foot so I look huge pregnant! My first ds was only 7 pounds 11. With my second ds, I knew that they tended to get bigger each time. So I asked. He was only predicted to be 8 pounds. He went to 40 weeks and was 9 pounds 9. He actually was a very easy birth and I had no stitches. I was worried with the third ds, but he was only 7 pounds 12. They all came on there own.

So who knows??? This one seems like my second ds. So I definately am expecting over 8 pounds but hopefully not 10 pounds!

You will be fine. Let us know how you go at your appointment. Good luck and hang in there!

I was told at this stage of pregnancy the baby puts on about .5 lb a week until birth?? Plus Im not sure they can "accuartely" tell the baby's weight until is actually arrives! Only an estimate.
I would say just stick with your birth plan but be flexible. If you feel you need pain relief because it is a big baby or an epidural - go for it! Dont try and be superwoman! On the other hand there are plenty of women who have felt comfortable giving birth naturally to larger babies!
In my opinion better on the bigger side than smaller - Im sure mine is a wee one!
If you feel more comfotable getting a second opinion - do! I guess baby wil simply come when it wants to anyway regardless of when it is due!
Dont stress (although I know this is hard as I am beside myself LOL) I would just be very flexible with your birth plan and try not to have too many expectations - you just never know until the day arrives!
    Good luck
