Smile I'm pregnant!!!!!! :):) Advice on cosleeping and nursing when you have two??

    Hello again everyone!

Mommyhood and working from home has had me very busy, but I am back to say I am PREGNANT with our second!! Hurray!! :):) For those of you who don't remember me, we have one little girl Matilda who was born December 4th, 2010. She's so amazing! Now we are overjoyed to get to know another little bundle all over again! We have got to be the luckiest people ever or something... With Matilda we only had to try one time, and with this little tyke, we only had to try twice. What the heck??! Could have at least let us enjoy the trying a bit more. ;) No, we feel amazingly blessed. I am on Cloud 9! Funny thing is, I haven't had that many symptoms yet. I've been pregnant three times before (ectopic, miscarriage, and Matilda), and I always had a lot of symptoms that tipped me off. This time around, no sore nipples (thank goodness, I'm still nursing Tilly). No additional hunger yet, no tiredness... The only thing was a bit of motion sickness when I took Tilly on the carousel last week, which I've only ever felt when I'm pregnant. My husband had a hunch and was hounding me to take a test, so I did. I was shocked when it was clearly positive! Now though in the past couple days I am feeling that sense of fullness in my belly, every so slightly crampy feeling, twinges of ligaments pulling, things readjusting in there... General "body getting ready" sort of feelings. It's very exciting!

Well I do have some questions... My daughter and I have always had the following routine: I nurse her to sleep at night, sneak her into her crib, and then when she wakes up crying around 2 or 3am I let her co-sleep with us the rest of the night. I like the pattern, but I have concerns... With the second one coming, how will I work the whole co-sleeping, co-nursing thing?? Or do you think Tilly will wind up weaning herself before I have the next one and the only issue then will be having room for everyone in the bed without endangering the newborn. Do I need to get Tilly used to sleeping on her own before the baby comes? Should I get her a toddler bed? She'll only be 2 yrs and 4 months when the baby arrives, assuming I don't miscarry of course. That seems young for a toddler bed to me... Okay sorry, too many questions. I guess I'm just concerned about the logistics of our sleeping arrangements. If anyone has any advice I would love to hear it!

    Congrats!!

I, personally, don't have experience with this but I thought I would mention that a friend of mine had her second when her first was only 23 months. Her first was in a toddler bed a few months before so that they could use the crib for the new baby. The little one loved her big girl bed!! She also weaned the first off the breast at about 18 months in order to be ready for breast feeding the second (and not allowing the first to be jealous or "fight" over the breast). Things worked out great! Different children respond differently and only you know what is best for your daughter. I just thought I would give you an example of what someone else did...you can take it or leave it.

    How far along are you?
