Default My belly and my pooch ...

So my dog oscar (he is my avatar) has been very weird lately when it come to my belly. Like if i am laying on the couch he comes over and "nudges" at my belly as if he know some thing is in there. and now when we go to bed he will only lay next to my belly (i sleep on my side) whereas before he always slept between my and dh by our heads on the pillows. I have heard that dogs sense the baby in the womb but i was wondering id any one else experienced this...

I didn't experience it with my dog but since we have brought Matthew home, Pip seems to know that he is a baby and is very gentle around him. Strange isn't it what animals pick up on. X

yes it is .. it is funny bc oscar doesnt really "like" kids but bring ababy around and he will sit right bythe mother and the baby and he is so sweet about it. I am hopeful that the dogs and abby will coexist w/o too much drama :)

I am sure that they will be fine. Just introduce them slowly and trust your instincts.

my cat is like that Meg, except she will lay on my belly like she is helping it hatch.

I read somewhere that it helps if you bring a receiving blanket to the hospital with you and wrap your baby in it then bring it home for your dog to smell before bring the baby home, your dog will get use to the smell.

awesome tip!!! i will have to do that!!!!!

as for the dogs and bellies....

a friend of mine (who was about 7 months pg) came over a few months back...misia (my dog) was acting very strange...she wouldnt leave her alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!! usually when strangers come over...she jumps around them for a few minutes and then runs to her doggy bed with her 'sucky toy' and will stay there for the entire night. she instead, sat next to her on the couch the entire night and tried to nuzzle and sniff her belly and if she got up to go pee ...she would sit by the bathroom door and cry until she came out. it was really bizaar...since she is a mama's girl.
it was cute. i cant wait to see how she re-acts to me being pregnant...if i ever get pg...lol.

awwwww thats cute.. My dog is a puppy yet and we are working on his jumping.. since I found out I was PG, for some reason he doesn't jump up at me anymore.. its really strange.. He loves to lay next to me on the couch and then lay across my belly.. its funny.. its about 40 pounds.. not a small lap dog!!!!

My cats are the ones that have been more in tune to the baby... Some of them are just like "whatever" and then my little girl... Lulu... She is very gentle with my lap now and won't curl up on my belly anymore... just my legs or she stretches out next to me on the couch. She hasn't been sleeping with me much... But my mom's cat Holly, whom Lulu hates, has become like a best pal at night when I go to bed.... She is ALWAYS ready to curl up with me now. These are the two cats I'm usually petting and loving on, so it would explain why they are the most in tune to what's going on with me. Lulu "understands" because she has been a mommy... Holly got spayed, but she was around when Mom was preggers.

The rest of the cats just curl up and get comfy... then get kicked! Pretty funny because they just look at me like "Excuse me!?!?"
