Thread: Crazy Woman!

Hi there,

we've got as part of our health system an organisation called ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation) The Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) administers New Zealand’s accident compensation scheme, which provides personal injury cover for all New Zealand citizens, residents and temporary visitors to New Zealand. In return people do not have the right to sue for personal injury, other than for exemplary damages.

There was a woman just recently that found out she was pregnant after having a tubal ligation (tubes tied) and managed to get accident compensation based on the fact that her pregnancy was "personal injury" they are still deciding what the exact compensation will be! I'm not sure whether to say "good on her" or don't be silly - nothing's fool proof... What do you guys think?

I think the women is just trying to profit financially from an already wonderful thing!!!
My mother had her tubes cut and burnt after 3 children and they told her when they did the procedure that after 10 years or so she may want to have test done to make sure they didnt grow back together as the bodys way of trying to heal itself.
She should see it as a blessing and I feel bad for the child finding out someday that its mother was so upset by he/she be concived that she sued for it.

The thing is - I didn't know i was pregnant and unknowingly exposed my baby to second hand smoke and alcohol as well, and according to all accounts she's perfectly healthy!

Also, I'm thinking that it might be an extreme measure, but if they really didn't want a baby, there was options available to her, termination/adoption etc??

Is it just me or does any body else want to smack that woman. How could any body sue for being preg.? It is the most most wonderfull thing in the world. I've had 3 unplanned preg. and they were all a blessing. I think of the 2 preg. I've lost every day and hope that one day I'll find myself preg. again and all will go well. My 5 yr. old is the most precious thing in the world to me. How could any one say that being preg. is a personal injury. I think she just wanted to get money for that baby. As far as the problems with her child it is unfortunate but it happens. U always here about women who do drugs and other things while being preg. and have perfectly healthy babies or women who do every thing right and have a miscarriage or have a child born with problems. It's all in Gods' hands. I hope that her baby never finds out what she did.
