Thread: Birth story.

Ok girls, here u go. Its not very long!

Darren and I were in bed watching Spiderman 2. At roughly 10.40 i had a little twinge at the bottom of my belly. I told Darren who looked at little scared but didnt think too much of it. A few minutes later it happened again so we said if there was another we would start timing them. Lo and behold, a few mins later again, another pain, a bit more painful this time. We both had that "uh oh" look going on and started timing the pains. After 10 mins it was pretty clear something was going on so we came downstairs to ring the midwife. While Darren called the out of hours number i had a chat with my neighbour, all the while having contractions roughly every 3 mins. Darren cleared the front room while i bounced on my ball and we waited for the midwife to call. By this time we were in no doubt that baby was coming!
The midwife phoned at 11.30, she was at another ladies house which made me panic for a mo, but the other lady didnt have much going on so she said they were coming over, via the hospital to get a few supplies. I asked if i could take a bath and she said go ahead. We knew she'd be at least 30 mins cos of where she was so i jumped in the bath to wait.
The contractions were starting to get quite painful now and i was willing the midwife to turn up with the gas and air. Darren was running around getting stuff ready but coming back when he heard me moaning. He says atabout midnight he was getting worried as the midwife wasnt there and i seemed to be in an awful lot of pain. He was just about to ring again to see where she was when she turned up. Luckily my neighbour had come in and answered the door cos we didnt hear it! She came straight to the bathroom, asked how i was, checked the heartbeat then sat back and let me get on with it. I was kinda waiting to be told what to do, as thats what happened with Ewan but she said to do what my body was telling me. Darren was telling me to breath and i snapped "i dont want to breath, i want to push". Midwife said push then! So i bloody did! I pushed out a little poo nugget, thank god i was in the bath! She told me to check if the head was comin so i had a feel, and could feel my membranes bulging. 2 more pushes and i felt them go. It dawned on me that baby was actually coming so i leant back with Darren holding my head out of the water. Midwife checked the heartbeat again then said get on with it. I pushed about 4 times, could feel the head coming, chickened out and let it slip back! Then thought, f*ck it, pushed again, and out came the head, while i screamed the house down! Darren had a look at the head and told me one more push. I took a breather, waited for the next contraction then pushed the fat bugger out! As soon as she was out i sat up and grabbed her. The rest as they say is history and the pic in the other thread is pretty much straight after she was born.
