When Josiah gets like that, I give him Karo syrup and it helps! Do you have it there?
Okay so when Landon went to the doctor last week..I told him sometimes his poo looks a little hard and there was a day or so that he had NO poo so he told me that I could give him some prune juice highly diluted but he didnt want me to switch formula??? I mean it is NOT rabbit pellets but sometimes he kind of struggles getting out...I am so not sure I want to give my little man prune juice at all girls!!! Seems a little much for a 2 weeker dont you think? He doesnt fuss around that his belly hurts just sometimes he turns red in his face like he is constipated so I rub/massage his belly then its all over..You would think it would be HUGE POO but its normally not!!!! Why am I posting this? I guess for moral support
George had poo poo trouble too and all I did was make one of bottles with less formula in it so more watery i.e. 5oz only put 4 scoops in(well thats how UK formula works)!!!
Or offer cooled boiled water, never went down the prune juice route,it may have the opposite effect even well diluted its powerful stuff!!!!!!
Another thing I think babies can have but check with a pharmacy is lactolose liquid,it's like drinking vege oil but works!!!
Yeah we have it but I guess I am "afraid" (even tho I am a nurse and should KNOW BETTER) to give him anything ...
i dont think i had this problem this early, but for sure had to go the whole prune juice route also, if the doc says do it i would give it a try, just a little...one time a day as needed..i dont know if you have tried this but when you think he needs to poo you can try doing a bicycle type thing with his legs and that reallly helps, Serenity was the worse with this in the begining
I am now a new grandmother. To prevent your baby from getting constipated, here is something that my mother-in-law taught me. It works because I gave it to all my 3 children who are now in their twenties and healthy.
Take a few raisins - a handfull
Soak them for a few hours or overnight in hot (not boiling but previously boiled) water
Strain them - even a tea strainer will do
Give this to the baby once a day - a couple of ounces will do.
For prune juice, the guidelines are:
make sure you get the diluted baby-ready prune juice and only give him an ounce (or less) as required.
