I just read your FB post and got a good laugh!! Hey if it works it works right!! I hate colds!! I hope you all feel better soon!!
Yes we are having all kinds of problems right now. Brooks has yucky eyes. He constantly has an eye boger in his eye and they are slightlly gunky when he wakes. Has anyone really used breastmilk before, if so how much/often/how long?
I tried this with both mine (with Elín i think it was a blocked tear duct it disappeare the first time she went on a plane at 4 months) with Kaja it left after a few months. I tried the breast milk, aloe vera, and eye drops nothing worked. Elín still gets very gunky eye if she is ill to the point where they are glued shut.
Both my babies had gunky eyes up to about 3 months. I just used to use boiled then cooled water and cotton wool balls to clean. Wipe once with cotton wool then throw it, don't wipe more than once with each piece.
I did it morning, night and probably about three more times a day when they got particularly bad. I never used breast milk but I would think it would be a similar routine and just as and when it was needed. I have heard about it being used for this before.

Nicholas has yucky eyes when he was a newborn. It was awful, he had them all the time. I tried breastmilk, eye droppies, and just wiping it out with a warm cloth. Nothing seemed to do the trick. I think it took like a month or so for it to work itself out.
Daniel had gunky eyes for about 3 months too. I used to give him a good squirt in the eye with breastmilk at every diaper change and then I massaged the inside of his eye (next to the nose bridge) with my little finger (cleaned) for a few seconds afterwards. You can also take a cloth and warm it up a bit and keep it over the eye.
The breastmilk gave some relief, but in the end the paed. prescirbed eye-drops that cleared it up in 2 days.
