I had the mirena and I had no sex drive whatsoever with it. As soon as I got it out I felt much better all around and my sex drive came back. So yeah, I would say that is normal.
Just wondering if any of you all gals have noticed changes in you while you were on birth control vs. being off it. I have been on bc (nuvaring) since giving birth to my son in Aug. 2008. I planned on stopping BC after my round in December because DH and I are going to TTC in Jan/Feb 2011. I was hoping to give my body a little over a month of being off hormones. Due to a mix up at the pharmacy...they didn't have my BC ready on my 1st day to use it. So...I would need a back up anyway this month because of it being late, I figured why bother when I'd be stopping it next month anyway. Dh and I figured we would just NOT be active in that area until then.
WELL...let me tell you what...my hormones are OFF the roof! I think of myself as a normal mom - Dh and I try to have alone time when we can but due to jobs, kids and crazy stuff we sometimes choose to sleep rather than "play." But, ever since I stopped the BC, I have been totally in the mood...which is BAD because we aren't planning for #3 until next year. If I jump the gun (no pun intended...okay, well, its a little funny) it won't be a terrible suprise just not quite how we have planned.
So...do ya'll think its being off BC? Has this happened to anyone else out there? OR...do you think its just that for once Dh and I have restrictions and I'm reacting to that. Or maybe a bit of both. Just really strange for me to feel this way and I'm wondering if I'm just plan old odd.I've also noticed a pick up in my general happiness...I actually feel more up beat...not as tired...and I've lost a little bit of weight - which is always nice.

Yeap agree with the ladies, when I was on any form of BC it zapped my sex drive, now I have my tubes tied and false hormones I am fine, when kids and tiredness allow, but I am in the mood for it now, whereas on BC I had to be convinced lol!!!!
Usually you have an increased sex drive around the time you ovulate (naturally). When you are on b/c you never get the increased sex drive (hormonal) because you don't ovulate and your hormones remain level.

When I was younger, BC pills never seemed to bother me the way they did when I was older. I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen from age 17-22.....went off for awhile, then went back on right before I started dating DH. I never EVER noticed that I had a decreased libido when I was on the Ortho Tri-Cyclen and it never really bothered me mood/hormonal wise. Then DH and I had our "oopsie" pregnancy and after my miscarriage, I switched to regular Ortho-Cyclen. My libido was never the same after that. So I went off the pill for good when I was 25. My libido picked up a bit, but still not the same as before. After I had Matthew I tried using the NuvaRing and that lasted all of 1.5 cycles before DH made me get rid of it because I was a total Beyotch....plus, I had zero libido. So to answer your question, yes, I think that BC hampered my libido the OLDER I got....so I will not be going back on hormonal birth control after this baby is born. Not sure what we're going to do yet. I say ENJOY!!![]()
I'm a much happier girl off BC! I am so angry on it.. I had to stop it!! And my drive is much BETTER too!
