Thread: A new Baby Gomes is here!

Yesterday Tuesday January 10th, 2012. My husband and I, 2 daughters welcomed a new baby boy to our family! What a surprise for us!

I was at home on Monday watching TV and feeling contractions but that happens to me every evening for the past week or so and they eventually stop. Well these contractions did not stop and only got more painful as the night continued.

10 pm my time I get a chat message from my husband's best friend in Portugal which at that time was 6 am on the 10th of January, his expecting wife's water just broke at 37 weeks and they were heading to the hospital. I told him, I was sitting at home with strong contractions and who knows if we may have our kids on the same day!

Well contractions kept coming, I stayed up because I couldn't sleep but I wanted my girls to keep sleeping. I had no one to watch them. My husband even got couple hours of sleep and finally at 3 am they were 5 mins apart and I showered to get ready for the hospital. 4 am packing up the girls for the hospital and 4 mins apart with painful contractions. Get checked in and sent to a room to get checked out at nearly 5 am at this point very painful contractions 3 minutes apart. Finally someone checks me to see if they will actually admit me and I was 6 cm, 100 % efaced and bulging bag were the exact words of the doctor. The pain kept coming and I asked for meds and an epidural. I knew i was so close to delivery but the pain was so unbearable and since my first 2 labors were with an epidural, I feared the pain of actually pushing etc. They did finally get me an epidural around 5:50 am and it did not even get to take full effect when they checked me I was 10 cm and just as they said we are going to break your bag, my water broke at 6:05 and I delivered a beautiful baby boy at 6:13 am after maybe 2 quick pushes!

Such a blur because it all happened soooo fast!!! My poor girls were a bit traumatized by the pain I was going through but it was quick and they are just in love with their brother especially my oldest really wants to be another mom to him.

Well there is my labor story...
Our little boy's name is Nelson Miguel Gomes
7 lbs 4 oz, 20 1/2 long

After two girls, I a bit apprehensive to raise a boy but I haven fallen in love with him instantaneously.
