Question whining during night?

Matthew is constantly waking up during the night and tossing and turning and whining......at least 4-5 times a night. He never "wakes up" and starts crying....because when I go in there, he's usually on his tummy with his butt up in the air. But it wakes me up in the middle of the night and I have a hard time going back to sleep.....it's like I'm waiting for him to wake up and cry. Do you think he's having bad dreams? He doesn't get a bottle anymore, so I don't think it's a tummy-ache or anything. I just can't figure out why he is such a restless sleeper. Is this normal??

Could be dreams or teeth? just trying to get comfy? Can you turn your monitor down (or off depending on how far away he is) so that it won't wake you? Does he have a comfort item? Blanket, glow worm, paci? I know I roll around a lot in my sleep and wake up in all sorts of funny ways! Hope you get some sleep!

This is totally me, Camden is so restless alot of nights and its like Im just sitting there waiting for him to wake up. I didnt sleep at all last night. I actually made a doc appt for Camden today to see if there's an underlying cause to his whineyness just to be safe. I ended up giving him tylenol last night but not sure i noticed much of a difference. Just know you're not alone! He's turned me into a real insomniac.

We don't have the monitor on anymore at night...we just leave our door open so we can hear him if he starts crying. I think it is normal for them to wake up several times a night, and roll around and make various noises.

Yes, we've thought about just ditching the monitor and leaving our bedroom door open....he's across the house, but I can still hear him if he's actually "crying" at night. Lacey, I don't think it's teeth....he's got all he's gonna get until 2 years I believe. And yes, he has a blankie and a furry dog pillow he sleeps with. I guess he's just a restless sleeper. We will try without the monitor tonight and see how that goes.....

I don't know if he's too young or not, but it could be night terrors?? Mason will do this, too, although he is quite a bit older. He'll be whining or crying and I'll come in to check on him and he is still sleeping. He has no clue that I'm even in his room. They are completely normal and they will grow out of it. It just means less sleep for us!

I am in the same boat. I took my daughter in to the Dr for her shots and discussed it with the Dr and she said sometimes its normal. She suggested that its probably because the baby wants to be held more than something might be wrong. She said to try and just ignore it. To let her deal with it on her own. So I would close her door or mine and try to sleep. I can hear her whinning and crying, I would check on her once or maybe twice in the night just to make sure that everything is ok, but thats it. After a while, like a week or two, she just stopped. I guess she realized that I wasnt going to go in and comfort her. Now she sleeps the entire night and when she does whine, I know its because of something, not her just whinning. And her whinning was going on while she was asleep. Sometimes I was sitting there just trying to wake her up, to put her down to sleep again. So good luck, try whatever you think might work for you. My Drs advice actually worked..

Alyssa does that too.. but sometimes I will hear her and sometimes I don't... she talks all night long and sometimes will let out a whine... but never usually wakes up.. I don't go in there to check on her cause she'll wake up!
