Default Reflux

Does anybody else have a little one that suffers from reflux?

Evie was diagnosed at 4 wks old, and even though she is much better now than when she was tiny, she still refluxes after milk, can be difficult to wind and has to have gaviscon in every feed.

Has anybody else experienced this and how long did it last for?

Sorry Evie is going through that. Brett had it when he was little...diagnosed at 3 weeks old. We were able to wean him off his meds around 5 or 6 months though. Haven't had any trouble since. Sorry I'm of no help, but thought I'd relay our story.

Ella, my oldest, had reflux. I was convinced of it from very early on, but I only got Gaviscon from the doctor once she was around 7 months I think Maybe a bit earlier - it was once she was on solids and it still wasn't getting any better. It never seemed to distress her in the slightest, it just was so tiresome having puke stains on every single item of clothing she owned (especially once she was on solids and everything was orange or green ), and the majority of my stuff too. I hated other people holding her because I would worry she would chuck all over them (it was never just after a feed, it went on for the whole 3 hours or whatever between feeds), and everything smelt of sour milk.

From memory, it got A LOT better once she was more mobile.

Thanks Ladies.

Lets hope she grows out of it when she starts walking then. I read it can take 3 years!!! There are some things you really shouldn't google, was slightly freaked out.

Reflux took Lachlan ages to get over, didn't help that he had an NG down his throat that had held the valve open though. I think it mostly depends on the child and their history really. Many say that it's usually gone by around 6 mths or when the child is mobile, but unfortunately that wasn't the case for us. At two I'd say his reflux is more or less gone (no longer on meds) although it doesn't take much at all to set his gag reflex off. And he still vomits as a reaction to stress.

Poor little man. That's a lot for you all to deal with. You must have a very brave little boy. I really hope it all gets better soon x
